According to Nielsen, “Americans are spending more time watching video content on traditional TV, mobile devices and via

AOL Gaining Relevance with Online Video

Sunday, May 15th, 2011

AOL is once again emerging as a leading media property thanks to some strategic spends in acquiring hot online vide properties like tmz.com and 5min.com. AOL’s recent acquisition of 5 Min Media has further secured the once near-death dial-up dinosaur a spot at the table with other media giants. In March 2011, AOL was ranked #2 on comScore’s Top U.S. Online Video Properties.

AOL beat out Yahoo and MSN Sites, coming behind Google Sites, which is driven primarily by video viewing at YouTube.com.

Video is certainly a must have in any digital strategy toolbox. comScore Video Metrix’s latest (as of March 2011) numbers indicates that 174 million U.S. Internet users watched online video content for an average of 14.8 hours per viewer.

This means

83.5% of the U.S. Internet audience watched online videos.

The average online video content is 5.2 minutes, while the average online video ad was 0.4 minutes. 5min.com has a library of more than 200,000 videos featuring content from fitness to fashion; making clear AOL’s logic in acquiring 5 Min Media’s video distribution to help boost AOL’s advertising revenue.

eMarketer forecasts that online video advertising could rise to more than $4 billion by 2014 from $1 billion in 2009.

2011 Online Video Stats – Video is a powerful purchase decision tool for executives

Sunday, May 15th, 2011

A recent survey by Forbes Insight in association with Google finds that executives consider video as a highly reliable and trusted source for researching business related information and in making purchase decisions. The report indicates that executives across all age groups are also more likely to take action after watching online videos including client testimonials.

In the survey more than 300 C-level and senior executives at large U.S. companies ($500 million-plus in annual revenues) were questioned about their viewing habits and preferences. The survey is a follow up and expansion of the group’s 2009 report entitled The Rise of the Digital C-Suite. In the time between the two surveys, video has evolved from a novelty into a mainstream means for executives to receive business information.

I’ve summarized some important online video stats below:

  • 83% of senior executives said they are watching more online video today than they were a year ago.
  • 75% of executives indicated they watch these videos at least weekly.
  • In 2009, 41% of executives age 50 or older said they watched videos on business sites at least weekly, and just 11% did it daily. In 2010, the total for that segment jumped to 66%, with 15% going to videos on business-related websites daily.
  • Video drives executives down the purchase path

  • 65% have visited a vendor’s website after watching a video
  • 53% have conducted a search to locate more information

A Day with the Incas -- A Unique Cultural Experience from the Country of Peru

Next Galaxy Media teams up with the Government of Peru and IDIAZ to expand on the Smithsonian Lecture Makiykumanta by Pablo Seminario with an Original Exhibit – A Day with the Incas

This exclusive experience will premiere as a one-time event in major cities across the USA. The once in a lifetime original presentation introduces audiences to a Peruvian feast of art, music and authentic food that entertains while it educates.

    In keeping with the rich tradition of the Incas and the people of the region, great care was taken in capturing the spirit, festivities, landscapes and its simple natives and to share this with the world through this unique exhibit. Peru’s official photographer Manolo Chavez indicates;

“I capture with the same spirit, the festivities and landscapes including the simple and spiritual people of the Andes thus bringing together the Cusco of today, and I suspect will be one of the last to captivate these landscapes and images of the innocence of the Andean heritage which is being lost in the uncontrollable modernization of our times.”
