    Good quality content is the key to communicating with your customers. But, how do you create content for your website that simultaneously achieves your marketing goals and meets the needs of your viewer?

    First and foremost, it’s important that your Video Content states the case for why visitors to your site should choose your product and services. Below we’ve compiled the top elements for creating valuable content for your business’ website:

    1. Be Helpful – People seek out solutions. There is a reason why they are on your site; they are looking for a solution. Search engines are a good way to find out what your customers are searching for. There are many tools that tell you the most sought for keywords and phrases; these give you an insight into the needs of your customers. This way, you can provide the answer.

    Start by providing genuine help for these needs, and your products and services will sell themselves. Your customers will even refer your video to friends, and link to you if your videos are helpful. For example, if you are selling cake batter, what is better than a video on “how to bake fun birthday cakes”?

    I was recently looking for how to use the self-timer on a camera, I found the answer on a camera repair blog, I bookmarked, linked and referred this blog on my social media resources and even twitted about this blog… Guess where I’m going if I need to fix my camera? By being helpful, I’ve become their brand ambassador and helped to promote the business – I will also reward this business with my money in the future. Now multiply that by the thousands of people you can touch by being helpful, and you organically promote yourself.

    2. Keep it engaging and entertaining. Plan your content so that it’s fun and exciting – and not bashing them over the head with pushy sales talk.

    Do not yell at your audience like a bad local car dealership commercial; keep the tone conversational and non-threatening. Constantly and unnaturally pushing your products and services can come across as aggressive. No one wants to buy from an annoying and abrasive sales person.

    3. Keep it simple and short. People have short attention spans. Ever heard of Wilf? (What Was I Looking For) – this is when online users get lost in content and forget what they set out to do. Don’t let this happen to you. Keep your Online Video clips under 3 minutes if you can, no longer than 10 minutes. Get to the point.

    4. Be Professional. Poor grammar, bad video quality and unprofessional content reflect on your business to the same extent that great quality does.

    Customers are looking for content from a trusted source, and a lack of professionalism translates into a lack of credibility. On the other extreme, do not be so technical that you sound like you’re creating a PhD dissertation; you are not going to impress anyone with big dictionary words either.
    Be informative and educational without being overly academic. You can come up with creative yet simple ways to communicate the value of your products and services. Your business is an expert on your products and services, your online videos should set you up as the destination for practical advice from the authority in the industry.

    5. Call to Action. Make it extremely easy for your customers to get to your cash register. Video overlays are a great non-intrusive way to hold your customer’s hands lovingly and guide them to the checkout.
